PechaKucha Cape Town Nights

About Us

PechaKucha Cape Town lit up for the first time on 20 June 2008, and we’ve been telling stories ever since.

From rooftop gatherings to tucked-away theatres, we’ve had many venues over the years, but the heart of PechaKucha remains unchanged:

10 speakers. 20 slides. 20 seconds per slide.
It’s storytelling with a pulse — fast, visual, and deeply human.

Dream Team

Run entirely by volunteers, PechaKucha Cape Town is now driven by a four-woman dream team who believe in the power of voice, vulnerability, and community.

Terry, Marieza, Levanya and Celeste — each bringing their own spark to keep the stage lit and the stories flowing.

Together, we celebrate creativity, courage, and the vibrant voices of Cape Town — one unforgettable night at a time.

People return to PechaKucha Nights because no two evenings are ever the same. You might laugh, tear up, be challenged, or inspired — all within the space of an hour. It’s not about polished performers or flashy presentations; it’s about real people sharing real stories in a format that keeps things moving and minds open.
Whether you’re there to learn something new, feel part of something bigger, or simply soak up Cape Town’s creative energy, there’s always something that sticks with you — and makes you want to come back for more.

What is PechaKucha?

PechaKucha (pronounced peh-chak-cha) is a global storytelling movement that celebrates the power of concise, visual presentations. The format? Each speaker shares 20 images, speaking for just 20 seconds per slide.

That’s 6 minutes and 40 seconds to tell a story — no more, no less.

In Cape Town, we host four PechaKucha Nights a year, each one a vibrant mix of ideas, experiences, and perspectives. Expect 10 speakers, each with a unique take — from the deeply personal to the wildly creative.

Whether you’re in the spotlight or in the crowd, it’s an evening of connection, inspiration, and the magic that happens when real people tell real stories.
